Due to its characteristics, wood has always been used for packagings, in order to contain, support and protect objects during transport, handling and storage. Packagings are essentially made of beechwood, poplar, and resinous woods such as pine and spruce. Pallet: a horizontal platform with a minimum height compatible with handling operations by means of loading trucks and/or fork lifts, employed as a support for the stacking, storage and transport of goods and loads in general. Pallets are rigid packaging solutions, built of a mono-material and assembled with planks and blocks of sawn off wood or particle board. Pallets can be either disposable or reusable, depending on whether they can be made use of again. |
